Bryan and Delairen: you both indicate you'll take half a hog.

Darn. Doesn't leave any for me. Does anybody else want to jump in? We can get two hogs!

Hi Marlene. I may be interested in part of a hog. Maybe a half. I may be able to travel for the cutting day, or else I would just take a half uncut, and butcher myself.
I also make bacon and would be happy to show others how.
I'm in Oakland.

I'd be interested in splitting a Hog. Mr. Man and I have been talking about doing just that for a while now - although we want our half uncut, because we've already taken a butchering class. :-)

I got a little more information from Lisa at Wind Dancer Ranch. If we can get 2 - 8 people to sign up for a "hog cutting" day at the ranch, we can learn how to cut and wrap our own meat, how to make bacon and sausage, then "bring home the bacon!"

I think this sounds like a lot of fun and great way to spend a Saturday. I haven't told her yea or nay, yet. Anybody interested? This saves the butcher fee, at least some of it. The first Saturday I'd have available would be July 10.

Otherwise, we can just order the meat and Meridian will cut and wrap it for us. We can probably expect the meat sometime in late July. Let me know. I could use at least 3 others to split a hog.

Wind Dancer Ranch has lamb (Navajo-Churro), hog (Tam/Berk or Berkshire), and rabbit. I'll be happy to split a hog and a lamb, if anyone wants to jump in.

Lisa, at Wind Dancer, offers two options for the meat: you can either get it cut and wrapped, or they'll teach you how to cut and wrap your own meat, as well as make bacon and sausage. I've asked her for more details on that, as well as timing on when we can expect the meat or schedule a day to learn it ourselves.

Anyone up for that option?

Amir, I'm happy to share some beef, I'm kind of lambed out at the moment. But beef, pork, poultry of any kind and any game is always welcome :-) i'm also in Walnut Creek.

Uh, oh. My freezer is out of meat! Anyone up for pork, beef, lamb, whatever? I see I just missed the water buffalo order. Maybe next time. Let me know and I'll see what I can find.

Amir, either farm is fine with me. Whichever is easier, also, I'd prefer to have it precut if possible.
