Got the information about BAMA from Camas Davis here in Portland. Looking for a suggestion for cuts to order when buying a half cow. Some sort of worksheet? See ones for splitting with more people but how about just two?
Please let me know if you get this.
Ah, I've figured it out. I searched your name and got to your profile, thus able to send your message. That is different from when you click on someone's name in a discussion. When you do that it takes you to a page with their icon and discussion posts, but it's not their profile. You have to then click their icon and it finally takes you to their actual profile. Very layered, this Ning is.
I hear you about the headaches of the 10lb box. I imagine it drove you and Bonnie crazy. I'd only want to do it if we could get a whole group to share in organizing, kind of like the food co-op my parents were in when I was a kid.
I'll get in touch with Rebecca Alon. I have her contact info.
I'll try sending a message to everyone's posts to see if they'll take their lamb. I'm also shopping lamb around to Slow Food Berkeley and other contacts.
Thanks for you help!
I was actually debating that idea. Please let me know what you think of this. I was thinking along the line of a group with specific parameters. I'd probably want to keep it east bay since SF groups seem to be getting along just fine. I'd like to specify that people must commit to spending time working purchases, would commit to spearheading one purchase each year or 2 depending on the group size, and have freezer room to make purchases of whole animals feasible. I've found there are too many that only have room to buy 3 chops and a chicken and I just don't want to deal with that. I would think those of us interested in larger purchases (and the saving we get with them) would like to get together.
Do you think I'm being totally unrealistic???
Can you add our web address to our ranch listing - Rossotti Ranch
www.rossottiranch.com
Thanks,
Julie
